Quick answers about the official exam format, pass marks, fees, and how our free practice tests help you prepare.
The official UAE driving theory test has 45 multiple-choice questions. You have 30 minutes to complete them — about 40 seconds per question. Each question has four options and only one correct answer.
You need at least 32 correct answers out of 45 — that is 71%. You can get up to 13 questions wrong and still pass. There is no extra penalty for wrong answers, so always choose your best answer rather than leaving a question blank.
Fees vary by emirate: roughly AED 50 per attempt in Dubai and Sharjah, and about AED 200 in Abu Dhabi. Failed attempts are not refunded, which is why practising until you consistently score above 71% saves money.
Expect questions on UAE federal traffic law, road signs and markings, speed limits, traffic fines and black points, roundabouts and right of way, seatbelts and child seats, mobile phone and alcohol rules, and emirate-specific topics such as Salik (Dubai) or Darb (Abu Dhabi).
Abu Dhabi timed practice tests are live now. Dubai, Sharjah, and other emirates are being added with local question sets — start with Abu Dhabi while we expand coverage.
Our practice tests mirror the official format, difficulty, and topic mix. The RTA uses a large rotating question bank, so exact wording will differ — but every major rule and regulation you need is covered in our mocks.
